Our MEM program teaches you the skills to address global energy-related challenges and become a leader in energy management. You’ll learn to apply cutting-edge energy technologies, develop effective policies, and utilize management methodologies to help corporations, governments, and organizations meet their climate change commitments. Our curriculum is designed to align with B.C.’s energy policies while offering national and international perspectives. 

The program consists of 30 credits, including a fundamental core of seven required courses and three elective courses. You can tailor your studies with a combination of technical energy management courses and MBA courses. 

The Master of Energy Management program at New York Tech Vancouver equips students for successful careers in diverse energy-related fields. To enhance career opportunities, the program offers one optional specialization designed to prepare students for impactful roles in the dynamic energy market:

  • Building Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization (BEED): Prepare for careers in building energy modeling and related fields. You will learn to develop strategies that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, advancing more sustainable building practices. 

Our applied curriculum emphasizes student projects, providing hands-on experience in real-world energy management scenarios. This approach ensures that you graduate with the practical skills needed to excel in the energy sector. 

Students have the flexibility to transfer between our New York and Vancouver campuses, broadening their educational experience. Financial aid is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, while international students can work off-campus during their studies and qualify for post-graduation work permits of up to three years. 

We offer comprehensive career planning services to all students, helping you navigate your career path and achieve your professional goals in the energy management field. 

The MEM core curriculum includes 30 credits, including seven (7) required courses (21 credits), three (3) electives (9 credits), and one (1) Technical Communications course (0 credits). Students have one optional specialization: Building Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization (BEED).

You must possess the following credentials in order to be considered* for the Master of Energy Management program at New York Tech Vancouver: 

  • Four–year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university in science, applied science, or engineering.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Minimum GRE score of 295 (if required).
  • Proof of English language proficiency or successful completion of the University Pathway Program from one of our partner schools.

Some applicants without a bachelor’s degree in science, applied science, engineering, or a related field may be eligible for conditional admission upon the completion of certain foundation courses.

New York Institute of Technology-Vancouver is offering an MEM Entrance Academic Scholarship for prospective students who will start in the Summer or Fall 2025 semester. We also offer a Domestic Student Scholarship for Permanent Residents of Canada and Canadian students who will start in the Summer or Fall 2025 semesters.
