Admission Requirements: Master of Science in Cybersecurity (MS)
Requirements
You must possess the following credentials in order to be considered* for the Cybersecurity program at New York Tech Vancouver:
- Four-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- NOTE: For applicants without a bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, we offer a flexible pathway to complete the required prerequisite courses to make you eligible to apply to the cybersecurity program.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Minimum GRE score of 295 (if required).
- Proof of English Language Proficiency.
- IELTS Academic: Overall band score of 6.5 (NOT GENERAL) with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading, Listening and Writing, a minimum of 6.5 in Speaking. IELTS indicator is not accepted.
- TOEFL iBT: 88 with a minimum of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 20 in Speaking, 21 in Writing. TOEFL iBT home is accepted.
- Pearson Academic (PTE): Overall 65; with a minimum 60 in Reading, Listening and Writing, a minimum of 65 in Speaking.
- Successful completion of the University Pathway Program from one of our partner schools.
- ILAC: PW 3.3 for direct entry
- ILSC: Level A2 for direct entry
- VGC International College: UP Level 7 for direct entry
- The Language Gallery: Level UPP 6 for direct entry
- SELC College: Level 4 for direct entry into the MBA program only

**Test scores must be valid at the time of submission. All test scores and the university pathway program completion are valid for a period of two years from the date of the test. Scores that are more than two years old are not able to be verified and cannot be used for graduate applications.
Applicants with an overall GPA between 2.85 and 2.99 may, at the discretion of the Vancouver program dean, be admitted into the program. Reasons for discretionary admission include but are not limited to:
- Submission of official GRE test scores of a minimum of 295, with a minimum percentile rank of 75% in quantitative reasoning
- Completion of a relevant master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Prior work experience (minimum 2 years in the related field)
- Applicant’s potential to contribute to the diversity of the student body (New York Tech Vancouver has identified a list of countries as diversity countries)
**Minimum requirements. The Master of Science in Cybersecurity program has a limited number of seats and only the best applicants will be admitted to the program.
For applicants without a bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or a related field:
New York Institute of Technology Vancouver is committed to empowering students to achieve their academic and professional goals while maintaining high standards of excellence. Aspiring students interested in our computing-based graduate programs who do not yet meet the admission criteria may be eligible for conditional admission.
Students who lack a bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT engineering, or sufficient coverage of the necessary math courses, will receive a letter from the associate dean outlining the specific foundation courses required for admission. Students may be required to take one-to-four additional on-campus prerequisite courses.
All New York Tech Vancouver applications are done online and require a non-refundable $50 USD application fee. In addition, you will also be asked to upload the following documents:
- Completed online application
- A copy of your passport (valid passport only, expired passport will not be accepted).
- Proof of English Language Proficiency (IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT/Home Edition, PTE).
- Bachelor’s Degree completion certificate.
- Semester-by-semester transcripts for all four years of your bachelor’s degree.
- 1-2 pages of a Resume or a Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Statement of Purpose(recommended)
- Any transcripts or certificates received beyond your bachelor’s degree program.
- A copy of GRE score (may be required for some applicants)
