Anticipated Changes to the BC PNP Program starting 2025

[March 20, 2024] As many of you are aware, the Government of British Columbia yesterday announced forthcoming updates to the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) slated for January 2025. We have only learned about proposed changes yesterday via the same announcement on the BC Government website and unfortunately we have as many questions as you have.

We will do what we can to find out additional information over the next few days and will communicate with you as more information becomes available. Please be patient while we try to find out how current and future students will be impacted.

For accurate and current updates regarding the BC PNP, please bookmark and regularly visit WelcomeBC News. This will be your primary source for official information as it becomes available. As we learn more about any proposed changes, we will also publish updates on the New York Tech Vancouver website.

New York Tech-Vancouver will be holding a student town hall on Thursday, March 28th at 12 noon to hear students’ concerns about the PNP announcement. Location of town hall will be announced next week..

Statement on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

[October 11, 2023] We recognize the ongoing Israel and Palestinian conflict as a complex and sensitive issue that affects individuals within our diverse community. We understand the importance of acknowledging and addressing the concerns and emotions that may arise from this conflict.

New York Institute of Technology is committed to closely monitoring the situation and its potential impact on our faculty, staff, and students. Our primary goal is to ensure the safety, well-being, and overall support of our community members during challenging times.

Diplomatic tensions between Canada and India

[September 29, 2023] We know that many of our students and their families and communities are concerned about the relationship between Canada and India. New York Institute of Technology Vancouver is actively monitoring the geopolitical relations between India and Canada and we want to assure you that you are welcome here. We are committed to supporting you and your safety, well-being, and academic progress.

We received the following from the Education Trade Commissioner in the Canadian High Commission which they have encouraged us to share with our school community:

“Canada encourages Indian students to continue with their plans to study in Canada or to consider Canada for future studies. International education is a priority for the Government of Canada and Canadian learning institutions continue to welcome students from India. Indian nationals may continue to apply to study in Canada. Visa processing for Indian nationals seeking Canadian visas (including study permits) continues, with all 10 Canadian Visa Application Centres in India still operating for biometrics enrollment and passport submission. All existing visas remain valid.”

Regarding OFAC Sanctions on Iranian Students

[August 9, 2023] New York Institute of Technology Vancouver campus is currently unable to accept applications from Iranian students who do not have citizenship or permanent residency status from another country to Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Master of Energy Management programs. Please know that we share your disappointment.
