
Congratulations and Welcome to New York Tech Vancouver!
Welcome to New York Institute of Technology Vancouver! Once you have been admitted into a program at New York Tech, please follow the below 10-step instructions so that you are well on your way to begin your journey here in the Vancouver, Canada campus.
Step 1: Accept your Admission Offer!
Once you have been admitted, you will receive an Eligibility for Admissions (EFA) letter. To accept your admissions offer, review your EFA and accept your offer in the admissions portal!
Step 2: Pay your Tuition Deposit
Please follow the instructions provided on your Eligibility for Admissions (EFA) to submit the initial tuition deposit or click here: How to submit your initial deposit
You have 21 days from the day you received your Eligibility for Admission (EFA) to submit the tuition deposit. If you need more days for preparing your deposit, please contact vancouver.admissions@nyit.edu to request an extension.
Once the required amount is received by New York Institute of Technology - Vancouver, your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) will be issued from our Admissions Office.
- Admitted students: - required tuition and fees for first year (2023)

Step 3: Set up your New York Tech Account
Once you have submitted your deposit, please set up your username and password in the my.New York Tech Portal. It may take 24 - 48 hours after you submit your deposit to be able to create an account.
Once you have set up your username and password, you will also have to enroll in Okta Single Sign-On (SSO). " View instructions to set up your Okta account. ." This will enable you to create your New York Tech email account, which will be used for all official university notifications, and access the Student Service HUB — Your Home for University Business. You will need this portal activated to register for classes.

Step 4: Apply for your student visa (if necessary)
To study in Canada, you will need to apply for a Study Permit directly with the Canadian Government. You may be eligible to apply for the Student Direct Stream which will allow you to get your Study Permit faster. For the required amount of 1st year tuition and fees to apply for SDS, please refer to Step 2.
Please review the study permit process and prepare all of the required documents. You can use the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) package sent to you once you submitted your deposit in this process.
If your visa is denied, you can request to defer your admissions to the next term by emailing vancouver.admissions@nyit.edu OR you may request a refund by emailing vancouver.bursar@nyit.edu
Step 5: Upload your documents
Once you have your study permit and/or study visa approval, please upload the following documents through the application portal:
- Copy of your Canadian Study Permit and/or Study Visa (If Canadian Study Visa is not applicable, please upload Study Permit Approve Letter instead of Canadian Study Visa).
- Signed Terms of Graduation Admission. Upload the entire Letter of Acceptance including the signed Terms of Graduate Admission on the last page. If you have a history of deferrals, please make sure to upload the Letter of Acceptance for the Fall 2023 term.
Step 6: Plan your travel to Canada/ Housing

Step 7: RSVP for Orientations!
New Student Orientation is a mandatory program for all new students and with help ease your transition to your University life in Canada and New York Tech Vancouver. Fall 2023 orientations will be offered in person.
Fall Orientation Dates: Tuesday, August 29 – Friday, September 1, 2023
During orientations, you will get the chance to explore your student services, resources, and academic support systems. You will learn about:
- Your Academic Program
- Our Student Services Departments
- Student support resources
- Social Engagement Activities
We will communicate all logistical details for Fall 2023 New Student Orientations via email, so please make sure to check your preferred email regularly. Please contact vancouver.orientation@nyit.edu if you have any questions.
Register HereStep 8: Register for Courses
Once you have submitted your documents in Step 5, you will receive an invitation to complete the CANVAS New Student Orientation Course in July. The invitation email will be sent to your New York Tech email account. In this self-guided course, you will learn how to select and register for courses.
Course registration period is from July 11, 2023 to September 4, 2023
After you have completed the CANVAS course, watch our course registration tutorials here and register for courses on the Student Service HUB.
Step 9: Pay your outstanding balance
If you have an outstanding balance from Fall 2023 registration, please settle the payment BEFORE the semester starts on September 5 to avoid a Financial Hold placed on your account and a Late Payment of USD $400 charged by New York Tech.
